Evaluation of annualized agricultural nonpoint source model for a watershed in the Siwalik Hills of Nepal

چکیده
A study was undertaken to determine the predictive capability of Annualized Agricultural NonPoint Source (AnnAGNPS) model with respect to runoff volume, peak flows, and sediment yield from a 130.8 ha watershed in the Siwalik Hills of Nepal. AnnAGNPS simulations are compared with two years of field observations from the study watershed. The model predicted the runoff volume within the range of acceptable accuracy. The event-based peak flows were overpredicted by 105% with R of 0.85 during calibration and 162% with R of 0.77 during validation. Similarly, the model overpredicted the event-based sediment yield by 59% with R of 0.63 during calibration and 92% with R of 0.59 during validation. These results show that the model performs well in simulating runoff volumes compared to the peak flows and sediment yields. It is observed that there is a need to modify or improve the estimation methods of the peak flow and sediment yield to increase the performance of the model which can aid watershed management in local conditions. 2005 Elsevier Ltd. Annualized Agricultural Non - Point Source model application for Mississippi Delta Beasley Lake watershed conservation practices assessment
The Annualized Agricultural Non-Point Source (AnnAGNPS) model has been developed to quantify watershed response to agricultural management practices. The objective of this study was to identify critical areas where conservation practices could be implemented and to predict their impact on Beasley Lake water quality in the Mississippi Delta using AnnAGNPS. Model evaluation was first performed by...

متن کاملAgnps Watershed Modeling with Gis Databases
Geospatial databases built with geographic information systems served as primary sources of input data to the Agricultural NonPoint Source pollution model of watershed hydrology. Elevation, land cover, and soil data for four watersheds are the base from which we extracted the 22 input parameters required by the Agricultural NonPoint Source model. The study demonstrates the utility of employing ...
متن کاملPhysicochemical Properties of Black Walnut (Juglans nigra L.) in the Western Mid-hills of Nepal
The black walnut (Juglans nigra L.) is an underutilized fruit in the mid-hills of Nepal. However, the physico-chemical properties of Nepalese black walnut are almost unavailable in the literature. Four walnut growing districts namely Baitadi, Dadeldhura, Jumla and East Rukum selected and the black walnut collected at commercial maturity from the local markets. The physical properties w...

The Annualized Agricultural Nonpoint Source (AnnAGNPS) pollution model was developed for simulation of runoff, sediment, nutrient, and pesticide losses from ungauged agricultural watersheds. This article describes the first documented calibration and validation of AnnAGNPS for prediction of atrazine loading. Here, the model was applied to the 707 km2 Cedar Creek watershed (CCW) and the 45 km2 M...
